Barstool Chicago Game Show Draft Grades

Round 1 Pick 1: Jeopardy, Eddie

Starting off with a pretty obvious first pick. If something other than Jeopardy went first, it would have been given an F.

Grade: A+

Round 1 Pick 2: Survivor, Klemmer

Um, what? I can't be the only one scratching my head here right? I just don't think Survivor is a game show? It's a reality show. I mean I guess there are games in it so I can't give it an awful grade, but not the best pick here.

Grade: C

Round 1 Pick 3: The Price is Right, Tommy 

I think this was a pretty obvious pick. It is actually a steal at three because it probably should've been second overall. I love the Price is Right. It gives me great nostalgia for summer days at my grandmother's house as we ate chicken nuggets and watched the Price is Right. Incredible.

Grade: A+

Round 1 Pick 4: Who Want's to be a Millionaire, Dave

Very good pickup from Dave. Millionaire is a great show. It is probably the best show format in my opinion. It also just had a tremendous host in Regis, probably the second or third best game show host of all time. Good pick.

Grade: A+

Round 1 Pick 5: Family Feud, Carl

Now this is definitely the funniest of the mainstream gameshows. There are always clips of Family Feud going viral. It is also just a good premise for a gameshow. Also, Steve Harvey is a tremendous host. Not the best all time, but he is close to the top five.

Grade: A+

Round 2 Pick 1: Wheel of Fortune, Carl

So I think Wheel of Fortune definitely should have been drafted, probably in the first round. But, I really don't think it is that good of a game show. I just never really liked it. However, I will put personal biases aside for this one and recognize that people really like this show.

Grade: A

Round 2 Pick 2: American Idol, Dave

Um what was Dave thinking? I mean I liked American Idol for a good amount of time, but this is not a game show. Bad pick.

Grade: F

Round 2 Pick 3: Pyramid, Tommy

Definitely a classic, but may not quite be popular enough to be drafted this early. I also feel like it doesn't have quite enough viral moments to be a second rounder, which I think is important when determining a good pick in this draft.

Grade: B-

Round 2 Pick 4: American Gladiators, Klemmer

I think this was an ok pick. It isn't super popular right now, but was pretty popular in its time.

Grade: B

Round 2 Pick 5: Deal or no Deal, Eddie

Objectively, this wasn't a very entertaining game show. I mean it was just someone arbitrarily picking brief cases. However, it is still a good pick. Everyone seemed to like the show. Also the arcade game that was made from it was incredibly fun.

Grade: A

Round 3 Pick 1: Supermarket Sweep, Eddie

Supermarket sweep isn't quite as heavy of a hitter as the other ones. It was a pretty good gameshow, but really nobody's favorite. 

Grade: B+

Round 3 Pick 2: Double Dare, Klemmer

Good pick from Klemmer. Everyone likes a solid Nickelodean game show. It was funny and is good nostalgia for those that grew up watching it. His best pick so far imo.

Grade: A-

Round 3 Pick 3: Cash Cab, Tommy

I like this pick from Tommy. I always enjoyed cash cab and it was much more unique than the other shows. I also dreamed of being on it despite never taking taxis. Overall a solid pick from Tommy.

Grade: A-

Round 3 Pick 4: Legends of the Hidden Temple, Dave

Again, a good Nickelodeon pick. I personally think Legends is better than Double Dare, so I will grade it accordingly.

Round 3 Pick 5: American Ninja Warrior, Carl

I like American Ninja Warrior, but this is another one that doesn't really feel like a gameshow. I mean don't get me wrong it isn't really a reality show, but idk. It is more gameshow than American Idol or Survivor, so I guess it will be ok.

Grade: B-

Round 4 Pick 1: Stump the Schwab, Carl

So I've never seen the show, but the premise seems good. I kinda wondered why there wasn't sports trivia show, I always thought it would be popular. Just do the Jeopardy or Millionaire model, it could probably work. If anyone here works for a network, give me a DM. Anyways, the pick is definitely a bit weaker seeing as it only had two seasons and just isn't that popular.

Round 4 Pick 2: Fear Factor, Dave

I don't love the pick. It is a gameshow but certainly not a traditional one. IDK. Am I just wrong on some of these?

Round 4 Pick 3: The Weakest Link, Tommy

Eh this just doesn't seem like a show people remember. I think I watched a few episodes, it was fine, but nothing to write home about.

Grade: C+

Round 4 Pick 4: The Amazing Race, Klemmer

This feels like survivor to me. It isn't really a game show, but games/puzzles are involved. This is more reality show to me.

Grade: D

Round 4 Pick 5: The Challenge, Eddie

This is actually getting so frustrating. I mean just pick game shows, it is not hard.

Round 5 Pick 1: Figure it Out, Eddie

Definitely a weaker Nickelodeon game show. It was decent but not great.

Grade: B-

Round 5 Pick 2: Remote Control, Klemmer

Don't know this one, but it is rather old so that leads me to believe it won't get many votes.

Grade: B-

Round 5 Pick 3: Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader?, Tommy

Great fifth round pick for Tommy. It wasn't the best game show, but I feel like it was pretty well liked. It was also just an interesting show concept that I'm surprised didn't last longer. Also, Foxworthy was a pretty good host.

Grade: A

Round 5 Pick 4: Top Chef, Dave

Top Chef is fine, but I am just not a huge fan of cooking shows. I think it will get a decent amount of votes, but nothing crazy.

Grade: B-

Round 5 Pick 5: Win Ben Stein's Money, Carl

I have heard of this won but never watched it. It seems like a fairly decent show, but nothing crazy.

Grade: B

Gonna rant for a second, but like come on guys actually pick gameshows. I actually felt like I was being too generous on some of these. Like Survivor, Amazing Race, American Idol?! Like these are not game shows. Whatever, a weird thing to rant about but idc. I think Carl wins because he is the only one without an outright terrible pick besides maybe Tommy? But Tommy just doesn't have any truly amazing picks besides the Price is Right and maybe cash cab which I am probably overvaluing.
