Barstool Chicago Road Trip Snack Grades

The boys are back this week with a Road Trip snack draft. This draft got incredibly contentious and there were a few head scratcher picks. That being said, let's get into the grades.

Round 1, Pick 1: Red Bull, Eddie

A solid start to the first round. If you go on long road trips, you need energy, and Red Bull is one of the best ways to do this. A solid first rounder that most people will agree with. I don't personally like Red Bull, however I see its first round value.

Grade: A

Round 1, Pick 2: Sunflower Seeds, Trent

I don't think this was a good pick for the first round. I don't think seeds are great for a road trip. One reason, which they didn't bring up, is that seeds make your mouth dry and will force you to stop again to get a drink. However sunflower seeds are good to pass the time, which is crucial on a road trip.

Grade: C+

Round 1, Pick 3: Peanut M&Ms, Carl

The perfect blend of sweet and salty, peanut M&Ms are a great road trip snack. They are the best chocolate to share, which is good for a road trip. It is definitely the top chocolate in the category.

Grade: A

Round 1, Pick 4: Beef Jerky, Dave

This is a good snack to keep you full. If you don't want to stop to have a meal, beef jerky is the best snack. It is also a great snack to share with the car. I've never personally thought beef jerky was particularly smelly like the guys said. I think it's a good pick.

Grade: B

Round 1, Pick 5: Monster Energy, Chief

This sorta seems like a bad pick when Red Bull was taken in the same round. I feel Red Bull is the more popular drink and Monster looks bad in the same round.

Grade: B-

Round 2, Pick 1: Cheez-Its, Chief

Cheez-Its are an underrated snack. I think they are a great snack. They don't leave your fingers dirty, which is a positive on a road trip. They do leave your mouth a bit dry, but are a solid road trip snack.

Grade: B+

Round 2, Pick 2: Flaming Hot Cheetos

I was never a fan of hot Cheetos. First, they leave your fingers dirty, which is awful for a car ride. They are also spicy, which means you need to stop for drinks later. They also aren't particularly tasty. I thought this was a pretty sub-par pick.

Grade: D+

Round 2, Pick 3: Gatorade, Carl

Gatorade is good for its variety and its sweetness. It is also nice because it's not carbonated, which is good for early morning road trips. I think this was a good pick because it is versatile.

Grade: A-

Round 2, Pick 4: Sour Patch Kids, Trent

Its a solid candy, taken with good value. End of 2nd round was a good spot for sour patch kids. I think they're best if you don't eat them too often and are a bit of a treat on a road trip.

Grade: B

Round 2, Pick 5: Doritos, Eddie

Doritos are probably the consensus number 1 chip. They have incredible variety and aren't overly spicy, which is important for a road trip. However, they do leave you with dirty fingers which is a negative.

Grade: A-

Round 3, Pick 1: Peanut Butter M&Ms, Eddie

Solid selection, not as good as peanut M&Ms but better than regular ones. The main problem is that it melts when it's hot, which could be a problem.

Grade: A-

Round 3, Pick 2: Mountain Dew Code Red, Trent

A solid drink. I was a little confused that this was the only soda taken in the draft, but it makes sense. It's a solid drink that also gives you energy for the trip. Pretty solid pick.

Grade: B

Round 3, Pick 3: Starburst, Carl

So starbursts taste good, but they have a few obstacles. First, you have to unwrap them which leaves wrappers around the car. It also gets stuck in your teeth, which is annoying, especially in the car. Generally I think the goods outweigh the bad.

Grade: B+

Round 3, Pick 4: Swedish Fish, Dave

Swedish fish are pretty good for a gummy candy. The only problem is that they have absolutely no variety, there's just one flavor which could get boring. A decent pick.

Grade: C+

Round 3, Pick 5: Skittle, Chief

Skittles are a solid pick. They are the perfect amount of sweetness. If it is too hot they will make your hands sticky, but that is a small price to pay.

Grade: A-

Round 4, Pick 1: Peanuts (Unshelled), Chief

This pick doesn't really move the needle for me. I like peanuts, but don't really see it as a great road trip snack. Nevertheless it does bring variety to Chief's board which is always helpful.

Grade: B-

Round 4, Pick 2: Snickers, Dave

A very plain chocolate bar. It doesn't really scream road trip to me, but it is a good candy bar. It is nice and filling while also being sweet. Solid pick from Dave.

Grade: B

Round 4, Pick 3: Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich, Carl

I don't particularly think this was a strong pick. This seems more like something you eat once you get to your destination, not when you start the road trip. It also doesn't work if you leave in the morning because ice cream isn't great in the morning. To me, it doesn't feel like a road trip snack.

Grade: C+

Round 4, Pick 4: Milk Duds, Trent

Trent might need a root canal by the end of this draft. Milk Duds, Sour Patch Kids, and Seeds is not a great combination. I also don't think Milk Duds are a particularly popular candy. Not a good pick right here.

Grade: D+

Round 4, Pick 5: Trolli Peach Rings, Eddie

I don't think this is a super good pick. I don't think this is a super popular candy, and not particularly great. It is good exclusively for a road trip and I think it would've been better in the fifth round.

Grade: C

Round 5, Pick 1: Oatmeal Creampie, Eddie

I see this more as a lunch snack and not a road trip snack, but it is incredible nonetheless. It isn't too sweet which is nice for a road trip. The wrapper isn't too messy, which is a bonus for a road trip. A good start to the final round.

Grade: A-

Round 5, Pick 2: Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles, Trent

Great value in the fifth round. It is a quality chip and is great to eat in the car. It isn't too messy and is both savory and tangy. I love this pick.

Grade: A

Round 5, Pick 3: Cape Cod Chips, Carl

This is a very underrated chip in the fifth round. I'm not sure how well it will play on the graphic, but this is such a good chip. It isn't overly salty, good crunch, good flavor. Great value in the fifth.

Grade: A

Round 5, Pick 4: Yoo-Hoo

This is a quality drink for a road trip. It isn't quite milk, which means it doesn't sit too heavy on the stomach and that is perfect for a road trip. They also aren't too sweet which works well. Incredible value for the fifth round.

Grade: A

Round 5, Pick 5: Tootsie Pop

A laughably bad pick from Chief. Tootsie pop is simply not chocolate. It's also not even that great for a road trip. Poor end to a poor draft.

Grade: D

Projected Winner: Carl

Projected Loser: Chief
