Barstool Chicago Frozen Aisle Draft Grades
Round 1 Pick 1: Jack's Frozen Pizza, Dave
I don't hate this pick, but I don't think it is the best frozen pizza. I like it, but I probably have it as third best frozen pizza and definitely not the first overall in the frozen item.
Grade: B
Round 1 Pick 2: Uncrustables, Rico
I agree with Dave, Uncrustables are overrated. They are good, but I would rather just make my own sandwich. But everyone acts like they are the next coming of christ. I don't understand the hype.
Grade: B+
Round 1 Pick 3: Franks in a Blanket, Clem
Very strong pick from Clem! I would probably grade these number two overall, so he technically got them as a steal.
Grade: A
Round 1 Pick 4: Frozen Shrimp, Chief
Well alrighty then. I don't get this pick, but to each his own I guess. I think it is not necessarily a bad pick, but it definitely should not be in the first round. It just feels like a weird thing to pick.
Grade: D
Round 1 Pick 5: Pizza Rolls, Eddie
Very strong pick here. I like a good pizza roll. Maybe I'm soft, but the only problem with pizza rolls is that they are a million degrees when they come out of the oven. I know this has become a mem of sorts, but it is an issue that cannot be overlooked when grading them.
Grade: A
Round 2 Pick 1: Bagel Bites, Eddie
Now this is what I consider to be the perfect frozen snack. They are tasty, they don't take long to make, they are easy to share with a group, and they are also really easy to eat with your hands. The perfect frozen snack. I would have picked them first overall.
Grade: A+
Round 2 Pick 2: Tater Tots, Chief
This is a very good pick from Chief. Tater tots are awesome and can be good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Just a great recovery.
Grade: A
Round 2 Pick 3: Ben & Jerry's Half Baked, Clem
Wow, heavy hitter right here. Half Baked is not only the best flavor from Ben & Jerry's, it may be the best ice cream. Great pick.
Grade: A
Round 2 Pick 4: Snicker's Ice Cream Bar, Rico
Like the pick. I think they are a little overrated, but it is a really good ice cream snack. I personally think this is an overdraft, but still a good product.
Grade: B
Round 2 Pick 5: Friday's Mozzarella Sticks, Dave
I love these. I don't know why, but these things are like crack. I could eat fifty of these in one sitting. Great pick from Dave.
Grade: A
Round 3 Pick 1: Stouffer's Lasagna, Dave
Back-to-back very good picks from Dave. There were many times in my youth and I loved it. It tastes homemade, I don't know how. Just a very good pick.
Grade: A
Round 3 Pick 2: Reese's Ice Cream, Rico
I don't love Reese's ice cream. It tastes fine, but it just doesn't do it for me. Eating a whole bowl of Reese's is a lot. I much prefer it to be a flavor additive in an ice cream, like a Moose Tracks.
Grade: B
Round 3 Pick 3: Toaster Strudel, Clem
Big toaster strudel fan right here. Don't care about the suggestive icing, give me all the strudels. It was a delightful breakfast treat. I didn't get them often, but I would cherish them when I did.
Grade: A
Round 3 Pick 4: Screamin' Sicilian Pizza, Chief
What is this?! What an absolute stinker of a pick. Maybe I'm not cultured, but this pizza looks so lame.
Grade: C
Round 3 Pick 5: Drumstick, Eddie
Ah I want to love the pick, but if you have the whole freezer section, I ain't picking the drumstick. I'm sorry. They are just so minuscule now and not amazing anymore. I still do think the pick has value due to nostalgia, but it is a product that has really went down hill.
Grade: B-
Round 4 Pick 1: Garlic Texas Toast, Eddie
I love me a nice garlic bread toast. When my mom would make some spaghetti, I would get so excited if she decided to make this with it. It is just truly an incredible product.
Grade: A
Round 4 Pick 2: Outshine Popsicles, Chief
So this is an interesting pick. The popsicles aren't bad, but they are just a bit less well-known. I would've gone with one of the more traditional popsicles if I were to draft them.
Grade: B-
Round 4 Pick 3: Super Pretzel, Clem
A rare miss from Clem. I think super pretzels... stink. You either have to wait too long to put them in the oven or you put them in the microwave and they taste like rubber. Just not good enough here.
Grade: C+
Round 4 Pick 4: Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis, Rico
Incredible pick up in the fourth round. I used to have these sometimes before school and they were tremendous. The minis are better than the full-size ones as well, great pick.
Grade: A
Round 4 Pick 5: Ore-Ida Hashbrowns, Dave
This is another meh pick for me. I never really think making your own shredded hashbrowns is amazing because it usually isn't as good as a restaurant would make.
Grade: B
Round 5 Pick 1: Tyson Chicken Tenders, Dave
I've always thought Tyson's chicken tasted bad. Maybe it is a me thing, but it always tasted fake. But I know people like it, so I won't knock the pick too much.
Grade: B
Round 5 Pick 2: Nathan's Crinkle Cut Fries, Rico
Very good pick from Rico. I think these specific fries are the second best frozen fries that your money can buy, behind Ore-Ida curly fries. They have a good flavor and are just good overall.
Grade: A
Round 5 Pick 3: Digiorno Stuffed Crust, Clem
I have always thought Digirono is very overrated when it comes to the frozen pizza game. It is good, but I think the cheese in the stuffed crust is gross. The pizza isn't terrible, but I typically don't look at it twice in the freezer aisle.
Grade: B-
Round 5 Pick 4: Frozen Broccoli, Chief
Sad, Chief just throwing in the towel on this one. I mean I don't think broccoli is bad, but one of the best 25 items in the freezer aisle? Give me a break.
Grade: F
Round 5 Pick 5: State Fair Corn Dog, Eddie
I think this is a bad Mr. Irrelevant. I think these things are just straight up not good products. I think Eddie's draft is enough to cover it, but he is playing with fire here.
Grade: D
This is going to be a close one. Rico has a very good draft, but I feel like Bagel Bites and Pizza Rolls is simply too good of a combo to overcome. Eddie wins, but it will be very close.
Predicted Winner: Eddie
Predicted Loser: Chief... obviously lol
