Barstool Chicago Pizza Draft Grades

Round 1 Pick 1: New York Style, Will

Yup, this was obviously the first overall style of pizza. It is definitely the most popular regional style of pizza, being the best is up to debate, but it is definitely the most popular. I like it, every single town has a place that does New York style and it is usually the best.

Grade: A+

Round 1 Pick 2: Chicago Thin Crust, Dave

So the Chicago bias begins. Disclaimer, I will be rating many of the Chicago-based picks poorly in this draft, I don't have anything against the city or their pizza, they are just bad picks in this draft and will not do well on the graphic.

Grade: C

Round 1 Pick 3: New Haven Style, Chief

Very good pick from Chief. I feel like many people believe this is the best style of pizza. It may not be the most popular, but many think it is good. I think the lower popularity may not be as good for the graphic, but it is still a good choice.

Grade: A-

Round 1 Pick 4: Home Run Inn, Carl

Wow, this is an awful pick. Home Run Inn could be a great pizza, but nobody would fucking know about it. He tried to get cute and it blew up in his face.

Grade: D

Round 1 Pick 5: Pepperoni, Eddie

Incredible value at fifth overall. Pepperoni honestly could've been taken first overall. It is far and away the most popular topping. Everyone giving him shit for the pick is dumb, this was the best available and everyone else was dumb for not taking it.

Grade: A+

Round 2 Pick 1: Sausage, Eddie

This is a very good pick. This is probably the second or third most popular pizza topping. It is always second to pepperoni in terms of meat. If you're ordering for a group, you get cheese, pepperoni, and then you always go "Hey get a sausage too". It is always the bridesmaid and never the bride, but sometimes the bridesmaids are pretty damn hot.

Grade: A

Round 2 Pick 2: Mushrooms, Carl

So I like mushrooms on pizza. It probably should have been drafted, but I think it was a bit early. Probably the third round would have been good for me.

Grade: B

Round 2 Pick 3: Onions, Chief

Same thing with Carl's pick. I personally don't love onions on pizza, but I think they deserve to be picked. Onions are fine but again were probably taken a bit too early.

Grade: B

Round 2 Pick 4: Little Caesars, Dave

What?! Of all the chains you pick Little Caesars first?! I mean I don't hate it, but I feel like it is the fourth best of the main chains. Definitely picked too early in my opinion.

Grade: C

Round 2 Pick 5: Bacon, Will

Incredible pick. I think bacon is an incredibly underrated topping. It tastes good, it always adds to the pizza. I just have nothing bad to say about it. Great pick.

Grade: A

Round 3 Pick 1: Domino's, Will

Wow, another good pick from Will. Domino's isn't my favorite, but it is definitely in the top 3 national chains. Getting it in the third round is a steal.

Grade: A

Round 3 Pick 2: Roasted Peppers, Dave

A decent pick from Dave. I think there were better toppings left on the board, but it definitely deserved to be drafted.

Grade: B+

Round 3 Pick 3: Sbarro, Chief

Oh my god, Sbarro is so ass. Of all the chains who picks Sbarro? I mean it is just not very good pizza.

Grade: D

Round 3 Pick 4: Deep Dish, Carl

Fine pick from Carl. It may not be the most popular style of pizza, but deep dish is very good.

Grade: A-

Round 3 Pick 5: Tombstone, Eddie

This is my personal favorite frozen pizza. It isn't too heavy, the sauce is good, the cheese is good, and it is relatively cheap compared to the rest of the brands.

Grade: A

Round 4 Pick 1: Papa John's, Eddie

I think is the first overall of the major chains. It has good sauce, a good crust, and is relatively cheap. I think it is just a very good pick.

Grade: A

Round 4 Pick 2: Jet's Pizza, Carl

My god Carl what are you doing? Another regional pick. I mean he has to be purposely sinking his board right? It isn't an awful pick, but it is pretty bad. Nobody outside of the midwest knows this.

Grade: C

Round 4 Pick 3: Lou Malnati's Frozen Pizza, Chief

Come on now. I mean what are we doing here? Picking an incredibly regional restaurant's frozen pizza? Just trying to lose apparently.

Grade: F

Round 4 Pick 4: Jack's Frozen Pizza, Dave

This is a very ok pick. Jack's is a good pizza, but I'll take tombstone every time. I think it is good, but not great for frozen pizza.

Grade: B

Round 4 Pick 5: Pineapple, Will

I don't like pineapple on pizza, but I think it has a cult following that will rally around the pick. Like if you like pineapple on pizza, you LIKE pineapple on pizza. Just a good pick in that regard. Not the best topping but a good pick.

Grade: B

Round 5 Pick 1: Tony's Frozen Pizza, Will

I really haven't had Tony's frozen pizza that often. I feel like it probably has a little bit of a negative connotation as being a cheap pizza, but maybe that's just me. Not Will's best pick.

Grade: C

Round 5 Pick 2: Hot Giardiniera, Dave

Another bad regional pick. I get it, I sound like I'm just trashing Chicago/Midwest pizza, and I guess I am a bit. But it just feels like a waste to pick some of these regional items that a decent portion of viewers don't know/like.

Grade: D

Round 5 Pick 3: Fresh Basil, Chief

Hahahaha. Oh Chief.

Grade: F

Round 5 Pick 4: Buffalo Chicken, Carl

I like the pick, but it won't be as popular as others. I love buffalo chicken on pizza and think more people should put it on their pizza.

Grade: B

Round 5 Pick 5: Sicilian, Eddie

I like a good Sicilian pizza, but I don't think I would ever go out of the way to get it. I think it is good every once in a while, but it is just a bit too heavy to have whenever.

Grade: B-

Wow a very midwest heavy draft on a draft that probably shouldn't have been midwest heavy. This leads me to think Will Compton runs away with it because he has national appeal in his entire board.

Predicted Winner: Will

Predicted Loser: Carl
