Barstool Chicago Apps Draft Grades

Round 1 Pick 1: Uber Eats, Dave

Interesting first pick. I could probably count the times I've used Uber Eats on one hand. I live too far from anywhere to make it worthwhile, it is just quicker and cheaper for me to drive to whatever place I want to eat. Also it was absolutely ludacris for Dave to say that ordering Uber Eats was cheaper than groceries. On what planet is ordering out for every meal, paying delivery fees, and tipping less expensive than buying groceries? However, I still believe the app is good and deserves to be picked. However, I don't think it should have been first overall, but a second-round pick makes sense to me.

Grade: B-

Round 1 Pick 2: Uber, Eddie

Similar problem, I have used an Uber/Lyft one time in my life. However, I think it is an essential app and has probably saved thousands of lives. A very good pick from Eddie here.

Grade: A

Round 1 Pick 3: Instagram, Rico

Interesting. I think Instagram should've been taken, but I think third overall is a bit too early. I like the app and I use it every day. But I just really don't think it is the third best app. In its day, it was number one, about 5-6 years ago, but now it has fallen behind. Good pick nonetheless.

Grade: B+

Round 1 Pick 4: Waze, Carl

So, I actually think this is a bad pick. I don't really think Waze is any better than the app that comes on your phone. Maybe it is marginally better, but honestly not that much better. Maybe that is an unpopular opinion, but I would've never even thought to pick it.

Grade: C+

Round 1 Pick 5: Twitter, Chief

Well, well, well. The elephant in the room. Is Twitter a good or a bad app? The age-old question. I think it is hard to judge this. Twitter has incredible highs and the deepest of lows. Sometimes you're scrolling through and it is the best app ever. You laugh, you cry, you think. But other times you just bash your head in because someone just said that drinking orange juice is actually homophobic (this didn't actually happen to my knowledge but would we be surprised?). But overall, I think the app is good but the pick is ok because some people just hate it even though they are on it all the time.

Grade: B

Round 2 Pick 1: The Score, Chief

I actually have never used The Score. I've heard form everybody it is a good app, but I just don't know. However I don't think it is as popular as ESPN or other apps like that.

Grade: B

Round 2 Pick 2: Venmo, Carl

Very good. It has just made paying people easier. One thing about it though is the money doesn't seem real. It is just sending the same money back and forth between friends whenever one pays for it. Is that just me or do other people think like that?

Grade: A

Round 2 Pick 3: Spotify, Rico

I use Apple Music, but Spotify is a game changer. It literally changed the music listening game. Just an absolutely amazing app. Music is so important to my life and many people's lives and the fact that we can listen to any song in the world at any time we want is amazing and it is all thanks to Spotify.

Grade: A+

Round 2 Pick 4: Weather, Eddie

Yup, good pick. Who doesn't like the weather app? I use it every day, it is a staple of my life.

Grade: A

Round 2 Pick 5: Apple Wallet, Dave

I like Apple Wallet especially for tickets and boarding passes, but I don't think it is worth taking in the second round. If he would've grabbed it in the fifth round, I think it would've been better.

Grade: B

Round 3 Pick 1: Touch Tunes, Dave

Eh. The touch tunes machine is much better than using the app. Also it would've been a better fifth round pick. Just not the best to me.

Grade: C

Round 3 Pick 2: Barstool Sportsbook, Eddie

A company man I see. (I do realize The Score is a Barstool property, but this is more obvious) I've never really used the Barstool Sportsbook since I am only 20, but I do have the app and it seems pretty good. It looks easy to use, however I don't know its ease of withdrawing money and such. Anyways, I think it is gonna play well on the graphic.

Grade: A

Round 3 Pick 3: Watch ESPN, Rico

Tremendous pick from Rico. I use the ESPN app to watch everything now. It's great on a car ride, on like the treadmill, in class, or just before I go to bed. Now with ESPN+ you can watch literally anything, definitely a good pick form Rico.

Grade: A

Round 3 Pick 4: Youtube, Carl

Ehhhhhh. I don't love this pick. I think Youtube is actually not very good in app form. You can't exit out of a video and keep it going. It's just not as convenient as it could be. I mean I use it a lot, but it could be better.

Grade: B

Round 3 Pick 5: Podcast, Chief

Yeah this is a fine pick. I use it pretty much every day as well. It is very easy to use. With that being said it is kind of a non-starter in terms of votes. I don't think people are gonna look at the graphic and say "Holy Shit! Podcasts? What a steal!" So there is that.

Grade: B-

Round 4 Pick 1: Tik Tok, Chief

Chief will probably get a lot of shit for this, but it is a good pick. It is arguably the most popular app right now and it is amazing it lasted until the fourth round.

Grade: A

Round 4 Pick 2: Lyft, Carl

So from my understanding, Lyft is just a cheaper version of Uber. I mean what's not to love? It doesn't have quite the name recognition as Uber, but it still looks good on the graphic.

Grade: B

Round 4 Pick 3: Facetime, Rico

Personally, I'm not a facetime guy. I prefer just calling someone if I have to talk to them. However, I think it is incredibly useful and probably one of the most popular apps in the world. Great value in the fourth round because so many people use it.

Grade: A

Round 4 Pick 4: Snapchat, Eddie

Not gonna lie, it is weird that a thirty year old man drafted Snapchat. I feel like it is a dying app, most people I know barely use it anymore. It is more used for stories instead of actually snapping people. I think it was a fine pick but not as powerful as it once was.

Grade: B

Round 4 Pick 5: Acorns, Dave

I think the pick here is fine, but nobody is gonna vote for it. Actually, Acorns is an incredibly useful app and a good way to make a little bit of money passively. However, it isn't a sexy pick at all.

Grade: C

Round 5 Pick 1: Amazon, Dave

I can see both sides of this pick. When I am buying something on Amazon, I almost always use the desktop version. IDK why, it just feels better to do it that way. However I do just shop on the Amazon app quite often when I just want to look for things. I think it is a good pick, but not quite worthy of an "A".

Grade: B+

Round 5 Pick 2: Notes App, Eddie

I like the pick. I use the notes app quite often for when I randomly want to make lists. The lists can be anything from what I want to do on vacation, to what classes I'm taking, and anything in between. I like the pick a lot.

Grade: A

Round 5 Pick 3: Shazam, Rico

Another very good pick. Shazam is awesome. When you're out and need to find a song or you'll go crazy, Shazam will save you.

Grade: A-

Round 5 Pick 4: Flashlight, Carl

A classic. When the phones didn't have flashlights, this thing was awesome. Especially if your power was out or you were in the car. Just a tremendous app.

Grade: A

Round 5 Pick 5: Doordash, Chief

In my experience this is the most popular food delivery app. Almost everyone I know uses Doordash as their number one. To get it at Mr. Irrelevant is a steal for Chief.

Grade: A

I think this is gonna be a close one this week. I think anyone besides Dave could win, but I think Eddie is gonna come out on top.

Predicted Winner: Eddie

Predicted Loser: Dave
